Blue Star Contemporary Art Center and the Texas Sculpture Group have collaborated to create an interior sculpture exhibition at the Blue Star in San Antonio.  One of Linda's recent piece was selected for the exhibit which is on view May 31 - August 18, 2012. The opening reception is from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. on May 31, 2012.

This is a wonderful opportunity as the exhibit coincides with Scale: A Gathering of Sculptors, an international conference featuring renowned sculptors from five countries who will present their work. This symposium takes place at the Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, June 5 - 7, 2012.

Participating sculptors are: Phillip King, an ISC lifetime Award recipient from the United Kingdom; Alice Aycock, USA; James Surls, USA; Masayuki Koorida, a Japanese sculptor residing in China and the Director of the acclaimed Shanghai Sculpture Park; Ivano Vitali, Floence, Italy; Jesús Moroles, USA; Joan Hall, USA and Gudjon Bjarnason, Iceland.

Artist Statement

Once my kids started preschool part-time, I decided to try art classes purely for a creative outlet in a place with no children to worry about.  The lush grounds of Laguna Gloria with the parading peacocks were inspirational and when I discovered sculpture it felt like I had found my niche.

Looking back throughout my educational and professional pursuits, I realize art never really entered my consciousness as a possible career until I got older.  Perhaps it was due to my cultural upbringing but I felt like expectations of me were to be a doctor, lawyer or accountant.

Since children are naturally creative I found that parenthood helped unlock the creativity inside me.  What started as one art class – to get away – has turned into a new life passion.

I love learning about art and working with my pieces, and I especially enjoy working with wood.  It’s a sane, slow world again when something beautiful can be created from nature’s gifts.
